One former Seahawks quarterback delivered some interesting news this morning concerning a present Seahawks quarterback. ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said that veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck will not be returning to the Seattle next season, which would seem to open a door for the Titans to make a run at him.
Soon after drafting Jake Locker within the initial round, the Titans aren’t likely to go right after a young quarterback - someone like Kevin Kolb. A guy like Hasselbeck, who could serve as a starter for part or all the coming season - together with serve as a mentor for Locker - could possibly be a great fit.
The front office has plenty of Seattle ties - with general manager Mike Reinfeldt, vice president of player personnel Ruston Webster and director of pro scouting Lake Dawson all having spent time in the Seahawks organization. I wouldn’t be surprised either if Locker has a relationship with Hasselbeck, following spending his college career at the University of Washington. Trent Farris Dilfer (born March 13, 1972 in Santa Cruz, California) can be a former American football quarterback inside the National Football League. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sixth overall within the 1994 NFL Draft and went on to play for the Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers. He played college football at Fresno State University. Dilfer was a Pro Bowl selection with the Buccaneers in 1997 and earned a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV. He currently serves as an analyst for ESPN.
